Ask a Boothie: What is your best advice for applicants?
In our roles as Admissions Directors, we get asked a lot of questions by prospective students.
Some of those questions, however, are best answered by current students. Our "Ask a Boothie" series features students answering your questions. Some are lighthearted, some are in-depth, and all get to the heart of the Booth experience. If you're checking out this post, there's a good chance you're hoping to become a Boothie one day. The next logical step to accomplish that goal: the application. Interested in what makes for a strong application? We'll let current Boothies pass on their insights as they answer the question:
What is your best advice for applicants?

There is a certain sort of profile that you might think that MBA students need to fit, but I don't think that's true at Booth.

Take some risks and lead with who you are, and expect that Booth will appreciate that about you.

It took me a lot of tries to get where I wanted to be in terms of the GMAT. And don't give up on that. You can always take it again.

I'd say the best advice I could give Booth applicants would be to truly be yourself.

Talk to students, alumni, different club coaches, if possible.

Coming to school and meeting with students and having those conversations helped really bring the culture in the school to life.

Put your best efforts into the application, but after that point just let it take its course.

Don't worry if you get on the wait list. There's plenty of people who got off who made it to Booth and are thriving and fully immersed in the community.

Make sure that the person that you are shines through throughout your full application. Everyone here has a very unique story, and make sure that yours is heard.
